LULA, South Africa — With their eyes set on the octagon, three-time UFC featherweight champion Anthony Pettis and former UFC champion Renan Barao are set to re-sign with the UFC, sources told ESPN Crips MMA.UFC president Dana White said Friday that both fighters are on the verge of signing new contracts.
Pettis and Barao were both released from the UFC in March, just weeks before Pettis’ title win over Josh Thomson at UFC 178.
They both have now fought in only one other UFC title fight, which came last month against UFC champion Jon Jones.
Pedders and Baraos, both fighters who fought their first UFC bouts on Nov. 16, have also fought in a rematch of their last UFC bout.
Barao defeated Thomson by first-round TKO, and Pettis defeated Jones by split decision in their rematch.
